The manifold viewpoint can also be quite useful in situations where the camera positions are completely unknown, as they might be in applications such as cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) [30].
Face images lie on a manifold, and viewpoint- and lighting-invariant subsets construct red and blue curves, respectively.
As a proof of concept, we now present a comprehensive multi-view reconstruction algorithm inspired by the manifold lifting viewpoint.
To make things more concrete, we demonstrate in this section how the manifold lifting viewpoint can inform the design of reconstruction algorithms in the context of two generic multi-view scenarios: far-field and near-field imaging.
For each 3D model, we generated a set of silhouettes corresponding to training viewpoints selected on the view manifold.
