"They're still popular," Jennifer Lavonier, the manager of Books of Wonder said of the Nancy Drew books.

"None of the Hardy Boys books are great literature, and the new ones are just not very good," said Jennifer Lavonier, manager of Books of Wonder in Manhattan.
"Now they're beloved classics but to start they were hugely controversial," says Ken White, manager of Books, Inc in the Castro, still the gayest place on the planet.
"The problem seems to be that the word 'Kurdistan' comes up several times in the book," said Nihat Tuna, manager of the book's publisher.
The bride, 30, is a senior manager of the book clubs division of Scholastic, the publisher in Manhattan.
Bishop Purvis, manager of Comic Book Heaven in White Plains, said Archie Comics' history of child-friendly material helps it retain a spot in the market.
After graduating with a degree in philosophy from the University of Milan in 1972, he joined the firm and, in 1981, became general manager of the book division.
"We print in 32 languages for more than 100 countries," said Guillermo Holguin, the general manager of the book printing division of Carvajal Caragraphics, in Colombia, which dominates the pop-up field.
After he was paroled in 1973, Mr. Balin worked as the manager of a book club, owned an art store in Greenwich Village, worked as a freelance writer and, under the name Martin Lewis, wrote a play, "Monopoly," which had a short Off Off Broadway run in 1979.
