The distribution of the initial serum beta-hCG levels of asymptomatic patients in the three management groups shows that hospital protocol was not complied in 35 cases (Table 1).
Baseline measures were taken followed by six and nine months' follow-ups; after the latter, the intervention group (the strengths-based intervention) showed significant improvement in its level of functioning, whereas the traditional case management group showed no change.

Trials of commercial weight management groups have shown these approaches to be effective in the short term [ 30, 31].

High levels of follow-up (86%) were achieved for the primary outcome at the primary endpoint, but differential and higher non-response was seen at the longer term follow-up points, with the primary care management only group showing lower completion rates.
However, the question is whether changing the structure of care through the CS amongst others, also changes the care processes itself, since previous research on the effects of population-based disease management programs among Dutch care groups showed little impact of these programs on patients' health [ 27].
Most studies are unable to show significant results, some show significantly lower costs in the case management group, but others show costs of case management that are significantly higher [11 17].
The resource costs for each patient management group are also shown in Table 2.
As one physician stated: "[It helps to] know that the issues and the wishes and the ideas we have for how we can develop this further will be discussed with the management group and that leaders show such a large commitment to this project".
