UNICEF continues to work with schools to make handwashing and good hygiene a part of daily routine.
Nearby schools and communities are being mobilised to create locally made handwashing facilities and compose their own songs, all encouraging people to practice handwashing with soap.
UNICEF is actively promoting handwashing as a regular and essential routine by organizing activities all across Sudan to raise awareness about the benefits of regular handwashing as a positive habit, and about the need to ensure that schools, hospitals, and communities have the support needed to make handwashing a regular practice.
The goal of the teachers is not just to 'frighten' children with possible health complications or simply just to give them information on how to wash their hands; the real objective is to make handwashing a daily routine for every child.
