Just to be clear, nothing I've said here makes the lessons of history irrelevant.
I find myself learning alongside pupils – though, of course, this is what makes the lessons so enjoyable.
But the simple act of sharing and of giving makes the lessons more permanent for me as well, so in turn I win too.
So many are inspired by Chris' story already but being able to share that other side, give the personal insight and answer all those lingering "Why?" questions, I think makes the lessons that much more thorough and powerful.
