If for some reason, the Germans sought an alternative option, it could be an indication that they are trying to wield an upper hand in the new company and would seek to make other business decisions that could go against New York.
One factor may be the Golden Visa program, introduced in November 2012, which offers residence permits and, possibly, citizenship, to foreigners who spend a minimum of €500,000 for real estate or make other business investments, according to a government Web site.
