Facebook has joined up with phone operators to make internet connectivity available free through an initiative known as internet.org, hoping to sign up Africans to its site before indigenous social media get to them.
Mr Zuckerberg said the goal was to make "internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it".
Last month, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, announced a new goal, in partnership with Samsung Electronics, Nokia and Qualcomm, to make Internet access available to everyone on Earth.
To begin with, access to technology, which for businessmen poses the need to make Internet connectivity available to the population, and secondly, teachers must take a step back and become a guide in children's exploration.
With initial funding from Deutsche Telekom, and a board of advisors including Noah Samara (founder of XM Radio and World Space), Kosta (and many others) are working to make Internet access available to everyone around the world - free of cost!
The initiative is billed as a way to help schools find a budget-friendly and easy way to make Internet school calendars available to parents.
Facebook has been working with telecommunications carriers to make Internet access more available and affordable.
A press release from Facebook earlier this week described Internet.org as "a global partnership with the goal of making internet access available to the next 5 billion people".
"Internet.org brings together a global partnership that will work to overcome these challenges, including making internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it".
