BLAST analysis (NCBI) between MUC2 mRNA (NM_002457, 1 15,728 bp) and the two genomic sequences indicated major sequence differences in the exon 30 region.
Apart from occasional SNPs (Additional file 5), no major sequence differences were detected.
These major sequence differences between species do not imply functional differences in kinetochore formation, as yeast cenH3 (can4) can functionally replace human CENP-A (Wieland et al. 2004).
The major sequence differences in the P1 and ORF6 genes between type 1 and type 2 strains are localized to specific domains of the proteins, rather than scattered across the protein.
Therefore, it is surprising that the chimeric tRNA performed just as well as the deleted tRNAArgCCU in terms of cell growth, despite the major sequence differences between the two tRNA scaffolds.
Major sequence differences among the four specimens sequenced in this study were in the 5′ and 3′ ends of chromosome 6 and the gp60 region, largely the result of genetic recombination.

This is a major sequence difference and the absence of labelling of monocytes in preparations from mice that received AgNO3 alone or untreated mice show that there is no cross reactivity between the used antibody and SAA 3. Instead, the immunolabeling and mRNA expression pattern supports our hypothesis that the monocytes are capable to phagocytose AA amyloid.
However, HLA typing has always been challenging due to the complexity of this group of genes, including the existence of large number of alleles for most HLA genes, major sequence difference between these alleles, sequence similarity among the paralogous HLA genes, and long range linkage disequilibrium in this region [ 1, 2].
The major sequence difference of the S genes between bat SARS-like-CoVs and civet/human SARS-CoVs suggests that there may be other more closely related SARS-CoVs in bats or there may be other unknown intermediate animal host(s) in the transmission of the virus es) from bats to civets [ 49].
In addition, none of the major primary sequence differences found in the AOP2-expressing accessions correlate with the level of AOP2 transcripts.
While in L. major the sequence difference locates near Box A, in T. brucei one of the two observed differences lies in one of the conserved bases of Box B (Fig. 7).
