Rice-rice is one of the major cropping systems in Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP) of South Asia.
The low yielding indigenous variety was dominant during the kharif season and the major cropping pattern was fallow-rice or maize-fallow with somewhat irregular fashion as observed during a pre-project field survey.
