In order to maintain a thermal equilibrium of the system, the BERENDSEN's heat bath technique was used with a BenerdsenTau of 0.01 ps [18].
The proposed Prioritized Thermo-Buffer based Adaptive Routing (PT-BAR) protocol maintains a thermal region based on the thermal balance of the nodes within the region.
Cold protective clothing is necessary for maintaining a thermal balance and for slowing or preventing adverse cooling.
However, the system maintained a warm thermal core, and despite strong 50 kt (60 mph) wind shear, continued to develop thunderstorms due to an abundance of divergence from a nearby trough; the same trough turned Sandy toward the northeast as the two began to phase and morphe into what many called a "Superstorm".
Since both leatherbacks maintained a stable thermal admittance during those trials the TB TWTW's were due largely to activity (Figure 2).
In TW ≤25°C the 37 kg leatherback maintained a stable thermal admittance of around 12 W m−2 K−1 (Table 1) and at all temperatures tested the 16 kg leatherback also maintained a constant thermal admittance, although slightly lower at 9 W m−2 K−1 (Table 2).
As tank water was cooled stepwise from the acclimation temperature of 25°C (for TW change protocol see Figure 1) both study animals maintained a progressively larger thermal gradient between their body and the water (Table 1 and 2).
The foil acts as a compressible thermal interface between the pressurized tube and holder, maintaining a constant thermal resistance (and thus a constant tube temperature gradient) during irradiation, regardless of differential thermal expansion, creep, and swelling in the test specimen.
