European Phragmites australis is one of four main cp-DNA haplotype clusters present worldwide.
Interestingly, the two most highly expressed rpa1a hom e)ologs correspond to a BAC that did not cluster within the three main haplotypes and another from cluster III.
It consists of one main haplotype, whereas the remaining haplotypes differ by one (eight haplotypes) or two (one haplotype) substitutions.
