As shown in Table 1, there were 4 IIb and 3 IIc macroscopic types in accordance with the Paris endoscopic classification [ 15].
Most specimens of the adenoma and adenocarcinoma and SSA/P were categorized in the High signal group, and no significant difference was observed according to macroscopic type, i.e. non-polypoid and polypoid types.
In EHCC, EGFR expression was significantly associated with macroscopic type (0% in the polypoid type, 24.0% in the non-polypoid type; P=0.0120), lymph node metastasis (P=0.0006), UICC Stage (P=0.0424), lymphatic vessels invasion (P=0.0371), and perineural invasion (P=0.0459).
Therefore, macroscopic type was classified in only colorectal adenomas.

A resected specimen during the surgery contained an ulcerated macroscopic type 2 tumor, 4 × 4 cm in diameter, destructive of crossed staple line (Figure 4).
Regarding macroscopic type, Borrmann type I/II was found in 108 patients (16%), and Borrmann type III/IV in 577 patients (84%).
In addition, our study confirmed previously reported prognostic factors in cholangiocarcinoma, such as macroscopic type, intrahepatic metastasis, lymph node metastasis, and histological classification (Yamamoto et al, 1998; Ohtsuka et al, 2002; Morimoto et al, 2003; DeOliveira et al, 2007).
Recently, we have conducted several studies aimed at relating the "macroscopic" type of constraints described here to neural activities recorded in cortical areas involved in motor and visuo-motor representations (Polyakov et al. 2001).
