By experimental observation, the center wavelength offset of surface-bonded FBG is 9.80 nm/°C with temperature changing when subjected to certain strain for the high quantum number channel, while 10.01 nm/°C for the low quantum number channel.
The tunable wavelength range of FBG is from 528.707 nm to 529.014 nm for the high quantum number channel and from 530.226 nm to 530.547 nm for the low quantum number channel.
They write, "[T]he extension of the analogy 'in some way' to small quantum numbers represented a most daring assumption… [Bohr] felt confident that an extension of his relations for frequencies and intensities, which were valid in the high quantum number limit, might eventually be justified also when low quantum numbers were involved" (Mehra and Rechenberg 1982, p. 250).
As a consequence of the adiabatic approximation, this result is valid only for the low spectrum levels (i.e., small quantum numbers).
Strictly speaking this intensity correspondence is exact only in the limit of large quantum numbers, and cannot be extended to small quantum numbers.
Note that this equality between the quantum frequency and one component of the classical frequency only holds in the limit of large quantum numbers not for low quantum-number transitions.
Quantization energies for an electron and a heavy hole with the seven lowest radial quantum numbers n and various angular momenta (up to 20) are presented.
The 11 configurations: (1s2) 2s22p6, 2s22p53l, 2s2p63l, 2s22p54l (l⩽n−1, where n is the principal quantum number), yielding the lowest 75 levels are used.
