The composition of the prepared water-insoluble fraction, which was determined according to the procedure published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory [ 18], was as follows: 44.8% w/w glucan, 0.3% w/w xylan and 0.8% w/w galactan, with low detectable amounts of arabinan and mannan.
The lowest possible detectable amounts by using M11 as mobile phase were found to be 0.10 μg/spot for proline, alanine and 0.05 μg/spot for lysine and glutamic acid, 0.03 for tyrosine, histidine, methionine, tryptophan and serine.

The lowest possible detectable amounts (μg/spot) of SC, SDC and STC on 5%(aq) 1-methylimidazolium chloride impregnated silica gel (S4) plates developed with M2 (2-methyltetrahydrofuran) were 0.7, 0.4 and 3.5, respectively, showing reasonably good sensitivity of the proposed method for the identification of surfactants at a trace level with preliminary separation from their mixture.
The lowest quantity of detectable amount of 3.3 μmol/L for F− was achieved for fluorescence measurements in acetonitrile solution.
