The results showed that both control strains TMB4511 and TMB4512 (i.e. the strain producing both XylB and XylC and the strain producing XylB, respectively) converted d-xylose to d-xylono-γ-lactone/d-xylonate at higher rates than all the strains containing genes from the lower pathway.
