Conventional PCR had a low dynamic range; bands that were very close to the background level gave poor results, and bands that were saturated also skewed the results (Fig. 1).
RiboRuler RNA Ladder, Low Range (Fermentas) was used to estimate the sizes of the RNA bands.

The other oscillation of interest is in the low-frequency range (spectral band between 0.04 and 0.15 Hz), usually centred around 0.1 Hz (6/min).
As can be observed in Fig. 6, two groups of peaks are found in the investigated area, the first group being in the low frequency band ranging 0.7 4 Hz and the second group in the medium to high frequency band ranging 5.5 17 Hz.
Maximal activity for LF words thus peaked in a high beta-band range, while HF and PS words peaked in a low gamma-band range.
