It should allow for a detection of very low protein amounts because protein concentrations in biological systems may vary by six or more orders of magnitude (Corthals et al. 2000).
The counterintuitive result of selection on PV CUPrefs is that expression of PV genes in human cell culture from the wild-type gene sequence leads to very low protein amounts, independently of the promoter and the cell line used.
