[ 6] demonstrated low IgG avidity values in animals with an acute N. caninum infection, and other studies have shown increased avidities during the course of infection [ 13, 19].
First BS located in the upstream region of the gene has a relatively low avidity (overlap peak value 7) and contains a canonical E-box CACGTG.
The second BS located in the first intron also has relatively low avidity (overlap peak value 7) and contains two non-canonical E-boxes CACGCG and two non-canonical E-boxes CGCGAG.
To estimate t-value at the given specificity level and the numbers of specific moderate to low avidity TFBSs associated with this t-value, we used the fitting and back-extrapolation method of recovery of the distributions of specific and non-specific BEs.
In our study, approximately 50% of the 34 animals tested in 1994 had IgG antibodies with a low avidity to N. caninum, and only 3 of them had very high avidity values (>70).
Presence of low avidity HEV IgG is indicated, when residual antibody levels were ≤50% of control values.
This binding reflected low avidity interaction(s), ∼1 log lower avidity than did 2F5-gp41 MPER interactions (Kd values were 275.5 and 10 nM, respectively), as calculated by surface plasmon resonance analysis (Table S3).
In 1994, 16 (47%) out of 34 samples with ELISA absorbances ≥0.40 had N. caninum avidity values ≤50, whereas 5 years later only 35(5%) out of 58 samples had such low avidities (Table 3).
They are usually of low avidity and are detectable transiently after treatment [34].
Using CTL clones of high or low avidity for melanoma antigens, we show that low-avidity CTLs can inhibit tumor lysis by high-avidity CTLs in an antigen-specific manner.
