The first, Lambchop's Slipped Dissolved and Loosed, written by the band's mumbling frontman Kurt Wagner, is hushed country rock rooted in the everyday, while the Streets' lachrymose Never Went to Church is a hymn to Mike Skinner's late dad set to his individual take on hip-hop.
The discs represent the moon, and in his artist statement Mr. Digby says he is alluding to the "traditional Japanese ritual of 'moon viewing".' The surface of each moon shape is made up of loose writing based on calligraphy, but rendered more expressively: Jackson Pollock comes to mind.
The loose writing is peppered with beside-the-point data, but it is nevertheless interesting, as when Muske-Dukes, thinking of bad lines from movies, suggests her own favorite, spoken by a woman who survived the Titanic: "A woman's heart is like an ocean".
"When you came to the airport to return home and followed the same approved procedure, all hell broke loose," he writes.
"When hatred is loosed," Bruni writes, "we're all in the crossfire".
"They're finally let loose to write about the things they enjoy.
