These findings argue against the hypotheses that binding affinity of TEIPP peptides might be lower than conventional ones and therefore looses competition with high affinity peptides in the ER, but rather, TEIPP peptides are underrepresented in the ER and under normal conditions a vast excess of TAP-pumped competing peptides is present in the ER and prevents TEIPP loading to MHC-I (Fig. 2).
