For the familiarization phase, we measured and analyzed infants' total looking time (i.e. the sum of the looking time for right and left presentation fields) in each trial.
Taken together with the lack of a significant difference in the proportions of looking time for the virtually novel array in the pre-test phase, the significant difference in the proportions of looking time for the novel array in the test phase suggest that the infants had a preference for the novel array.
