The patients with long-standing duration of the convalescent stage may show choroidal atrophy and loss of choroidal melanocytes [3, 5, 6].
Given the long-standing duration of chronic headache activity by our patients, it is not surprising that headache impact and depression did not reveal more marked changes, even at 1 year follow-up.
These results support Virchow's hypothesis that chronic inflammation of long-standing duration can lead to cellular proliferation and cancer development (Balkwill and Mantovani, 2001).
