Many species are infected by lentiviruses, which are characteristically responsible for long-duration illnesses with a long incubation period.
These findings are promising because from previous research we know that social anhedonia is highly correlated with chronicity of illness and the current data has been collected from adult patients with a long duration of illness (the mean duration of illness in this study is 8 years).
Additionally, unlike in this study, correlations have been shown with short duration of illness, BMI and hypothalamus reduction, and a long duration of illness with cerebellar reduction [ 10], and longer copy time on the Rey Complex Figures Task with reduced global GMV [ 5].
