Champéry is a small and beautiful resort with cosy log chalets and friendly locals.
At Wiegele's, I stayed in an attractive two-story, hand-crafted log cabin chalet, not far from the central lodge, which contained ski rental, clothing shops and a superb restaurant.
Victorians in the downtown historic district are most in demand, but buyers can also look at modest semiattached houses and row houses in the Heights north of downtown, or log houses, saltboxes and chalet styles in recreational communities around lakes a few miles away.
