The MCH nurses reported that they kept their own personal records of client information – rather than centrally located databases.
On the other hand, advances in telecommunications, improvement of transfer bandwidths, and the increasing ability to access remotely located databases over the Internet have hugely facilitated the access and sharing of biomedical repositories.
A typical e-MIR application scenario would be a researcher who needs to locate databases of diseases with at least one working link.
An easily located online database of clinical practice guidelines was suggested as the main solution to overcoming barriers to use (Table 4).
Of 6,456 papers located from database searching, initial screening identified 302 papers as meriting further attention, either because titles or abstracts appeared to meet inclusion criteria, or because papers were relevant in another way (e.g. reviews).

Also potential sorting signals are identified by LOCATE database based on PROSITE patterns and signal peptide prediction methods; however; it does not document any experimental confirmation of these signals (26).
The LOCATE database currently lists approximately 7% of the mouse and human proteins as secreted [ 40]. 17% of zebrafish and human proteins have been reported to contain a signal peptide [ 41], as well as 12% of mouse proteins [ 42], again lower than the corresponding number in C. elegans (28% proteins with SP).
