Studies have shown that the higher the radiation dose delivered to the target volume, the better the local disease control ratio [ 2].
In the multivariate Cox proportional analysis, miriplatin usage for TACE for HCC was found to be an independent factor associated with inferior local control rate bearing a hazard ratio of 2.53 when compared to epirubicin usage.
When studies with median followup of at least 24 months were analyzed separately [ 16– 29], correlation between the isocenter BED calculated with the same set of α/ β ratios and the local control rate reported in these studies was also observed.
The actuarial local control rate is 73%.

For the local control rate, the event consisted of local failure, censoring patients without local relapse.
As shown in Figure 2, increased isocenter BED correlated with an increase in local control regardless of which α/ β ratio was used in the BED calculation.
