The imaging is done through the intact liver capsule.
In the present study, focus is made on the liver capsule, the membrane encompassing hepatic parenchyma, which takes a huge part in liver mechanical properties.
The local strain fields have also been computed, by the mean of a photobleaching grid, to get an idea of what the liver capsule might experience when subjected to internal pressure.
Different tissues such as skin, muscle, fat, liver capsule and vessel are proved to generate various force cures, which can contribute to the judgement of the needle position and provide efficient insertion strategy.
It shows a typical geographic pattern of involvement, associated to retraction of the liver capsule.
Liver surface implants (subcapsular deposits) may be seen, with deposits causing characteristic scalloping of the liver capsule.
An oval, hypoechoic, well-defined liver lesion was noted in the subdiaphragmatic area close to the liver capsule (Fig. 2).
The findings also suggest that liver capsule depth could be used prospectively to identify patients who would benefit from elevated output.
The dilated ducts consequently become more crowded and they appear to extend more peripherally towards the liver capsule, somewhat analogous to bronchial dilatation in bronchiectasis (Fig. 1).
Neither the serous nor fibrous liver capsule is visible in normal conditions under CT or MR imaging and maintains a strict adherence to the liver parenchyma.
Amebic abscess normally appears as hypoechoic, homogeneous, round or oval lesion, with a hyperechoic wall and location generally contiguous with the liver capsule [5].
