"We're much more flexible in the collaborative process than the litigation process," she said.
The new consciousness of mental health, legal, and financial professionals is collaborative, stressing healing over litigation.
Since then, she has turned her law practice away from adversarial litigation and toward representing parties in collaborative and cooperative divorce.
"What we have done here is move past the litigation process and advanced directly to a collaborative process, to insure that stops on Chicago streets meet constitutional and legal standards".
She added that the bank believed a "collaborative approach" was better for homeowners than "protracted litigation".
"That experience clearly showed me how a collaborative process could work so much better than litigation," she said.
The collaborative law model emerged in the early '90s as an alternative to the litigation court process of divorce.
After beating his head against the litigation wall for years, he focuses his practice on alternative dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation and collaborative law.
