A Dodd-Frank-Act-mandated study of financial literacy recently concluded: "investors have a weak grasp of elementary financial concepts".
Ms. Mastrovito and another teacher had headed Columbus Park's "literacy cadre" and concluded, after studying the professional literature, that small-scale, homogeneously grouped classes using a combination of phonics and whole-language approaches would work best.

A study by Petrill et al. (2005) concluded that the number of literacy materials in the home also may be mediated by the parents' educational level and intelligence.
Habibov [ 2] reported that there is no significant gender gap in the level of literacy and education in general in Azerbaijan and concluded that increase in nonacademic educational activities promoting antenatal care should be a priority.
It has also been concluded elsewhere that lower levels of health literacy is associated with higher use of expensive care, emergency services and increased rate of hospitalizations [ 23].
Kelly et al.'s [ 21] review concluded that for adolescents, good mental health literacy is associated with more positive outcomes for emotional well-being but add a caveat that very few school interventions to improve mental health literacy have been evaluated and even fewer well evaluated.
"If high-quality health care is to be provided to all patients, changes need to be made in the health care delivery system to accommodate low-literacy patients," the authors, writing in the journal Patient Education and Counseling, concluded.
