Our findings and those of others (Willis-Shattuck et al. 2008; Hermann et al. 2009; Wringe et al. 2010; Campbell and Scott 2011) support remuneration of CHWs, especially when they have multiple tasks or tasks that require a long service delivery time or time spent on the job per week and when remuneration is clearly linked to workload.
