The fact that many scoping studies became translated into peer-reviewed products, or had impact in other ways (see below), implies that scoping studies have, and should, act as key sources of research findings for dissemination but that there are also associated responsibilities for researchers and commissioners to ensure that the nature and limitations to scoping studies are reported.
