Exposure response was examined by creating a three-level variable for individual pesticides with the distribution of lifetime days of use split at the median among the pesticide users to create two exposure categories (≤ median, and > median), with never use as the referent category.
To improve resolution at high exposure levels, we further categorized lifetime exposure-days by splitting the top tertile at the median when the split left at least four exposed cases in each new category.
