As food availability is increased beyond this point, lifespan decreases via the DR response.
Given that lifespan decreases with ambient temperature, a straightforward explanation is that increased wasp density also results in increased ambient temperatures and, consequently, in reduced lifespans (Figures 3, 5).
There is evidence that the mechanism behind these changes is the decreased brood size of multiple foundresses, combined with the fact that females lay most male eggs early on [65], which is consistent with our finding (Figure 3) that effective lifespan decreases with foundress number.
With rapidly decreasing UVR at conception, lifespan decreased in the better-nourished, white, female diabetic population.
Survival curves for the remaining Canton-S adults demonstrated that lifespan decreased as radiation dose increased (Fig. 2).
It imposes a significant societal burden by shortened practitioner lifespan, decreased efficiency, negative health outcomes and poorer levels of patient care.
Upon deletion of PEX3 in Δ atg1 cells, both the mean and maximum lifespan decreases, indicating that also in the absence of autophagy, peroxisome deficiency reduces yeast lifespan (Fig. S1).
The model showed that host lifespan decreased with virulence score and increased with vaccination, although there was no significant difference between the effect of the two vaccines on lifespan (Table 1).
In Ames mice, treatment with GH shortened lifespan, decreased cellular stress resistance (Panici et al., 2010) and attenuated components of the cellular detoxification pathway, including glutathione transferases (Rojanathammanee et al., 2013).
