He conducted a series of interviews with Aharon Appelfeld, Ivan Klima, Milan Kundera, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Edna O'Brien, and Primo Levi — a collection that will one day be published as "Shop Talk".
"What we're finding is that people are so overloaded with options on denim, all the brands, all the [different] things," says Miles Johnson, creative director of the premium Levi's collections.
The jeans were a bit much for his budget, but Mr. Ferencz, shopping at Selvedge, on Mulberry Street in Lower Manhattan, fingered the fabric longingly, and said he had happily paid up to $100 for other models from Levi's vintage collection.
The jacket will be a part of Levi's Commuter collection of clothing, which is largely aimed at urban dwellers who ride bikes to navigate their city.

The Levi's Pride collection includes both men's and women's T-shirts as well as unisex tank top, all emblazoned with the jean company's iconic "batwing" logo in rainbow colors, as well as "PRIDE 2014" stamp on the back.
The stakes: Each finalist will be included in the March issue of GQ, but the winner receives $50,000 and a chance to create a collection for Levi's.
Radio 4 also announced a new dramatisation of Primo Levi's short story collection The Periodic Table, starring Henry Goodman and introduced by Janet Suzman, to be broadcast in 12 episodes of varying lengths this spring.
Each of the two big Italian volumes in the complete works has a section at the end called "Pagine Sparse," or miscellaneous writings, essays and stories that weren't in the collections that Levi made in his lifetime.
"There are lots of great things happening in the denim market, but I always come back to Levi's, especially their Premium Collection," he says.
