Varying osteogenic responses in masticatory elements suggest that physiological adaptation, and corresponding variation in skeletal performance, may reside differentially at one level of bony architecture, potentially affecting the accuracy of behavioral and in silico reconstructions.
At tendon insertion, we searched for the following abnormal findings, and any one of them was considered as a feature of enthesitis [ 30]; tendon thickening at the level of bony attachment, enthesophytes, bony erosion and presence of Doppler signal at the level of bony attachment.
The 99mTc-MDP uptake within the injury sites peaked on day 7 post-injury, while the injury sites were occupied by mature osteoblasts also starting from day 7. 99mTc-MDP uptake started to decrease 14 days post-surgery, when we observed the highest level of bony tissue in the injury sites.
The decision about the type of prosthesis used was dependent on the patients' age, expected level of activity, bony defects as well as the patient's bone quality (Fig. 4).
