As for the canned and frozen fruit, the researchers said many canned fruits have high sugar levels; frozen fruit is generally considered nutritionally the same as fresh.
Prevention measures could include decontamination of chicken meat at slaughter resulting in a decreased bacterial load at retail level, freezing of chicken meat before reaching retail and improving consumer awareness in handling raw chicken meat.
"Everything above ground level froze and fell on the ground," Chief Milano said.
Seven-day-old seedlings were harvested: the shoots were first measured for heights and then excised 1 cm above soil level, frozen immediately in liquid nitrogen and stored at -70°C until use.
However, sucrose levels remained constant and above baseline levels during freezing acclimation.
Whereas WT mice exhibited high levels of cue-evoked freezing to both the CS+ and the CS20% compared to the CS−, 5-HTTOE mice exhibited high levels of cue-evoked freezing only to the CS+, with low levels of freezing to both the CS20% and the CS− (Fig. 1).
This reduced fear-related behavior did not reflect an inability to express appropriate cue-evoked freezing responses because WT and 5-HTTOE mice exhibited equivalently high levels of freezing to the CS+, which reliably predicted footshock, and equivalently low levels of freezing to the CS−, which reliably predicted the absence of footshock.
We show that CBD-treated animals had increased levels of freezing during conditioning, enhanced generalized fear, inhibited cue-dependent memory extinction, slightly increased levels of freezing during an auditory-cued memory test, and increased contextual fear memory.
However, to our knowledge, no one has attempted to directly select for freezing differences following fear extinction after matching animals for post-acquisition levels of freezing.
After conditioning, all odors evoked similar levels of freezing behavior, regardless of similarity to the threat-predictive odor.
