The interviews asked Fellows and staff to describe IAVI's level of development and capacity building needs at the start of the fellowships, GHF activities which seemed to have the most impact on capacity building, and perceptions about the structure, benefits, and challenges of the IAVI-GHF partnership over time.
Funding began in 2008, and since these registries were at different stages of their development with varying levels of capacity, funds were used to improve the infrastructure and build the capacity for these cancer registries as needed.
