The literature seems to indicate that the advantages (high union rate, less revisions, fewer non-unions) of the reamed nails are more important than the disadvantages (prolonged surgical time, blood loss) [9, 12, 13, 26].
The authors reported less revisions with smaller MOM THA articulations, but the rates were still significantly higher than for the metal-on-plastic LFA.
