Didactic lecture podcasts of 15-30 min duration were more likely to be viewed compared to either shorter podcasts or those longer than > 45 min.
Moreover, students reported that access to these lecture podcasts allowed them to better manage their learning and understanding of complex information [ 22].
Our study demonstrated that residents are more likely to view podcasts of procedural skills, journal article summaries of 5-15 min duration and recorded didactic lecture podcasts of 15-30 min.

In terms of students' perceptions of the usefulness of the biological sciences lecture podcasts, the majority of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that podcasts were a useful learning tool (83%), revision aid (83%) and helped promote understanding of course materials (72%; Figure 2).
The ability to replay the lecture podcasts several times helped some students to assimilate the information required for a fuller comprehension of the subject and to reinforce their knowledge of the topic area: G: When you actually sit there and listen to it again it actually makes a lot more sense and it sinks in better...and you can confirm everything that you've learned.

Some lecturers podcast their lectures, so an iPod can be useful, though you can also listen to podcasts on your laptop.
