"It's a disappointment," said Dr. Ginsberg, a lead study investigator.
The lead study author, Prof Greg West, from the University of Montreal's department of psychology, said the paper indicated that benefits of video games, such as improved attention and perception, highlighted in previous studies, could come at a price.
Late on Wednesday, the Office for Human Research Protections sent a letter asking Johns Hopkins, which receives more federal money for medical research than any other university, to review the procedures used in the lead study.
This likely spells eventual doom for the entire West Antarctic ice sheet, which according to lead study author Eric Rignot "comes with a sea level rise of between three and five metres.
"These nanotube wires grow and act like nerves," said lead study author Lindsey Bornhoeft, a grad student at Texas A&M.

"We are social creatures," Greenfield's colleague and lead study author, Yalda Uhls, said.
"Now it fits together," said Karin Sigloch, a seismologist at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, and lead study author.
"People who only loosely identify with their religion are actually the most prejudiced," said John Shaver, the lead study author.
Lead study author, Laura Pimpin, commented that butter might be better than the white bread on which it often resides.
"A lot of people's attitudes toward climate change aren't very firm," lead study author Sander van der Linden said following the experiment.
