Bismuth has always been produced mainly as a byproduct of lead refining, and thus the price, usually reflected the cost of recovery and the balance between production and demand.
Other occupational sources include the manufacture of nickel-cadmium batteries, metal plating, zinc and lead refining, smelting of cadmium and lead, and production of plastics.
Diverse industrial processes such as lead smelting, refining and manufacturing industries, battery manufacturing, printing and pigment, metal plating and finishing, ceramic and glass industries, and iron and steel manufacturing units are key sources of lead contamination in wastewater (Yurtsever and Sengil 2008; Sahu et al. 2013).

Industries most affected include lead mining, refining, and smelting; construction work involving paint removal, demolition, and maintenance of outdoor metal structures such as bridges and water towers; auto repair; and battery manufacturing and recycling.
After this antimony-containing secondary lead is refined, it is largely resold to battery manufacturers.
Lead is refined in much the same way, with compressed air blown into a molten lead bath and the major impurities of tin, antimony, and arsenic oxidizing in that order, rising to the surface as skims and being scraped off.
With a war chest of $6.5 million, and more to come, the company is looking to consolidate its lead and refine its software by broadening its reach, making it easier to use and strengthening its security.
