Here we select track between SWA and GPS satellite PRN 07, which due to a favorable GPS orbit configuration was long enough to cover the latitude range of 40°S 30°N.
The geomagnetic latitude range is limited to ±42° due to the low inclination orbit of the satellite.
The usage of the TF approach can allow one to determine the nuclear abundances in the magnetosphere at any geomagnetic latitude and, thus, any orbit, provided that the CR spectra are determined at 1 AU.
However, due to its high inclination orbit, the latitude coverage depends strongly on R o, the radial distance to the equatorial field line crossing, with coverage ranging from approximately 15° 35° at R o = 5 6 to approximately 25° 40° at R o = 7 8 near dawn.
In the analyses, a dipole model was used for the geomagnetic field model and invariant latitude was referred from the "orbit datasets" provided by the Akebono project team.
The pole-sitter concept was previously introduced as a solution to the poor temporal resolution of polar observations from highly inclined, low Earth orbits and the poor high-latitude coverage from geostationary orbit.
These studies show that the stations whose latitude are close to the orbit inclination have the largest effect on the orbit error.
The ionospheric plasma and electrodynamics instrument (IPEI) onboard ROCSAT-1 is designed to measure the ion composition, density, temperature, and drift velocity at the 600-km altitude along the ROCSAT-1 orbit within the latitude band of ± 35° of the low-latitude ionosphere (Fig. 2).
To examine the magnetic conjugacy, Figure 4 shows the magnetic fluctuations along the orbit versus Apex latitude (VanZandt et al. 1972) instead of the dipole latitude, on the dayside (upper panel) and on the nightside (lower panel) for the same example in Figure 3.
A header in the file provides orbit number, date, latitude, longitude, solar zenith angle, radius of reference areoid at that latitude and longitude, radial distance to the maximum electron density in the profile, and the value of the maximum electron density.
