Sauerland, a hilly area east of Düsseldorf, describes itself as the "largest snow paradise north of the Alps", despite its comparatively low peaks and patchy snowfall (wintersport-arena.de).
The largest snow depth usually occurs near the windward region, and for a large-span flat roof the peak point could also occur in the rear region of the roof.
That did not fit the brand being so painstakingly built in Dubai, which has aspirations to become a world business capital and mass tourist destination, with the world's largest snow dome and what will soon be the world's tallest building.
On the other hand, under the historical scenario, the region with the largest snow frequency (>90%) accounts for about 1%, 22.5%, 30%, 20%, and 1% of the whole central and eastern U.S. for the five months, and these numbers drop to about 0%, 7.5%, 17.5%, 7.5%, and 0% under the RCP4.5 scenario, and about 0%, 2 %, 7.5 %, 2 and 0% under the RCP8.5 scenando (Fig. 4b).
The largest snow sculpture is 120 metres (390 feet) long, while the "Crystal Castle", an ice-carving project finished in December, towers over the winter theme park at a height of 48 metres (160 feet).
In addition, the complicated melting process means that snow melting vehicles have a much lower capacity than the equivalent plow or blower vehicle; the largest snow melter can remove 500 tons of snow per hour, compared to the 5,000 tons per hour capacity of any large snow blower.
With copious amounts of natural snow and Canada's largest snow-making system, the season runs to the middle of May – making it a good choice for a late ski break when most of North America's other ski areas have closed.
The resort Heavenly says it has the West's largest snow-making operation, its huge mountain dotted with enough hydrants to get about three-quarters of its terrain open with man-made snow.
"Northern Eurasia is the largest snow-covered landmass in the world each winter," she notes.
Dempsey Construction Corp., founded in 1961 at Mammoth Lakes and still headquartered there, claims to be the largest snow-country condominium builder in the United States.
Snowmobiles and tracked vehicles are used in areas where large snow accumulations are typical.
