Analyses of the sedimentology of Central and West Africa indicate that sea level increases caused by climate fluctuations continued to spur marine incursions after the Jurassic and a large marine seaway is thought to have extended from Libya to West Africa from the late Cretaceous through to the Eocene [Fig. 1; 23].
"The incursion of the seaway onto large parts of low-lying Laramidia would have separated small areas of land from each other, allowing different species of dinosaurs to evolve in isolation on different parts of the landmass," he said.
Myers and Lieberman (2011) used the GIS to consider the geographic ranges of several fossil marine vertebrate species from the Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway, a large, mostly tropical seaway running up through the center of North America (Fig. 1) that is the source of numerous, extensive fossil marine deposits.
These chalk beds were deposited at the bottom of what was once the Western Interior Seaway, a large shallow sea over what now is the midsection of the North American continent.
During the Late Cretaceous period, the site of the Kaiparowits Formation was located near the western shore of the Western Interior Seaway, a large inland sea that split North America into two landmasses, Laramidia to the west and Appalachia to the east.
DFDS Seaways, a large Danish ferry company, said on Twitter that the Calais port had been temporarily closed due to a "migrant invasion".

The largest light clusters on the seaway are the capital cities of Oslo and Copenhagen.
Evidently the low-latitude Tethys seaway collected along its margins large amounts of organic matter, which today are found as petroleum in the Gulf Coast of the United States and Mexico, the Maracaibo Basin in Venezuela, the Sirte (or Surt) Basin in Libya, and the Persian Gulf region.
The large roll motion of ships sailing in the seaway is undesirable because it may lead to the seasickness of crew and unsafety of vessels and cargoes, thus it needs to be reduced.
