Lafrance has made her name with large-scale dance works that use public spaces and architecture: for "Descent," in 2003, the audience looked down through an open stairwell, as dancers on the landings below poked in and out of view; for "Melt," presented in New York in 2010, women perched on chairs hung on an industrial wall, dripping beeswax from their skin and their costumes.
