The dMRI results in the deep lamina are again very similar to the histological results.
At certain axial load, the permeability starts to increase due to inferred dilatancy of microcracks at the lamina faces then drops again as axial load continues to increase probably due to lamina compaction at the inlet and outlet ends of the core sample.
Figure 6 shows a comparison of PLI, myelin, and dMRI data of the same slice of sample 2. In the internal lamina, the radiality is again reduced (arrows).
In the superficial lamina, fiber tracts are again running tangential to the cortical surface orthogonal to the image plane in Figure 4 ix.
When the horizontal principal stress difference is small, the main fracture surface is parallel to the laminae strike, and the primary fractures will propagate as follows: propagate through the laminae, then deflect significantly at the surface of the laminae, continue along the laminae surface and finally change direction and propagate again through the laminae.

This is a tricky thesis, and again posed puzzles: how do the lamina or simulacra, as Lucretius called them, of a mountain enter the eye, for example?
The lobes develop around these folded main veins, but the developing lamina stops its growth when reaching the volume border, indicating the again a contact regulation of the growth (figure 1D).
