The expression "lag days" is not a standard phrase in English, and it is not used in formal writing.
It would most likely be used in informal conversations to describe a situation when progress is slower than anticipated. For example, you could say, "We have encountered some lag days, but we're still on track to meet our deadline."
For each city, we estimated a single moderate or extreme heat effect at lag day 0 or over lag days 0 7 separately.
The cumulative lag day's association for temperature was calculated for all lag days at the 25th and 75th percentile assuming linearity.
In our analysis, associations with single-day lags were strongest for lag day 1, and associations were significant for the first 3 lag days only.
Time-series analysis for lag days 7-9 showed that the associations dropped to non-significant levels on lag day 7 for all age groups (results not shown).
The 1-3 day incubation period of S. pneumoniae was used to estimate the lag days between acute environmental occurrence and case onset, or plausible effect period [ 28].

This analysis employed a cross-basis function that describes a bidimensional association between temperature and number of lag days (Gasparrini et al. 2010).
Figure 2 shows the extreme cold/heat-related mortality risk (relative risk) with different lag days in the three city clusters and the overall study area.
According to the sensitivity test of different lag days, in this study we quantified the "heat effect" as the extreme heat-related mortality risk with 0 3 lag days; and we used the models with lags of 0 21 days to calculate the extreme cold-related mortality risk as the "cold effect".
We set the lag time as 0 3, 0 5, 0 7, 0 10, 0 15, 0 21, 0 28, and 0 30 days to check the robustness of our estimates, then compared the effect of extreme temperature within each grouping of lag days, and selected the reasonable lag days to quantify the cold/heat effect.
