Since the conclusion of US v. Flores in 1997, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers CIWW) has worked with the Justice Department on six more successful forced labor prosecutions, the most recent of which, US v. Navarrete, resulted in lengthy sentences for two more farm bosses on charges of conspiracy, holding workers in involuntary servitude, and peonage.
"It's a pro-labor prosecution.
"This is not an anti-labor prosecution," Mr. Morgenthau said.
Under the definition included in the measure, violence by gangsters or racketeers and by parties in connection with a labor dispute is barred from prosecution under the law.
Prosecution of child-labor traffickers and their henchmen must be accelerated.
Intimidation, prosecution and imprisonment of labor activists are rampant, but unions in Iran haven't been fully silenced, and some have even had some limited success.

In another case -- the largest human-trafficking prosecution ever, the operators of a forced-labor factory in American Samoa, who had imprisoned over 200 Vietnamese and Chinese, face American justice in Hawaii.
"Federal and state human trafficking data indicate more investigations and prosecutions have taken place for sex trafficking than labor trafficking; however, victim service providers reported assisting significantly higher numbers of foreign national victims in cases of labor trafficking than in cases of sex trafficking,".
None of the 29 labor activists killed in 2011 had their cases resolved by a successful prosecution".
They have evaded prosecution for environmental damage like oil spills, as well as poor labor conditions, forcing crews to work like slaves without adequate pay or rest.
