Free sign up"knew of" is a correct and commonly used phrase in written English.
It is used to indicate that someone is aware of something or has knowledge about something. Example: "I knew of the party, but I wasn't invited." In this sentence, the speaker is saying that they were aware of the party, but did not receive an invitation. Another example: "She knew of his reputation as a skilled pianist." Here, the speaker is stating that the person has knowledge of the person's reputation as a skilled pianist.
