The gimmick is pretty much the same in all of these shows: The experts are stranded in God-forsaken places with few or no supplies and only their own resourcefulness to turn to for help, unless you count their camera operators, producers, makeup artists, best boys, key grips, agents, publicists and personal masseuses.
The key is for publicists to play matchmaker to these important entities.
In the case of Ms. Keys, who was wearing a tight red cheongsam and what appeared to be crossed mahogany chopsticks in her hair, our designated J publicist approached Ms. Keys's publicist, and asked if she was talking with reporters.
The couple's children have all been involved: Arielle Jamil, 27; Elan Jamil, 31, director of purchasing and product development; and Lydia Keys, 37, now a fashion publicist, previously designed and managed the Beverly Hills Counter Spy Shop.
"Primarily, we need more Latinos on the inside working in key positions, such as agents, publicists, sales reps, bookstore owners and especially as acquisitions editors," she says.
A publicist at J Records, Ms. Keys's label, said the singer was not available for an interview.
Lotus will also put its name on an array of quotidian objects like key fobs, cellphone holders and laptop bags, which a Lotus publicist described as "cool, high-end pieces that provide an entry level to the brand".
More often than not, it emerges that the key figures of popular literary history were celebrities and self-publicists in their own day.
According to Seale Ballenger, a publicist for William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins that released "The Doomsday Key," the novel remained in the Top 10 of the New York Times hardcover fiction best-seller list longer than typical for its type.
